The Istituto Italo-Latino Americano (IILA) and Zètema Progetto Cultura are calling for submissions to the IILA-FotoGrafia Prize as part of the 11th edition of FotoGrafia – Festival Internazionale di Roma (September 20th – November 10th, 2012), offering emerging Latin American photographers aged 40 or younger an opportunity to participate in the Festival alongside well-established figures in the discipline.
A final winner will be chosen from among those invited to the Festival. The winner will receive a one-month residence in Rome, including round-trip fare and 1,500.00 Euros for expenses. During the residence, the winner will develop a photographic project focused on the city of Rome, with the assistance of an editor. The project will be presented during the festival’s 2013 edition.
Candidates must submit a project on the topic of “Work.” A key term in recent years and in the history of photography, this topic is to be reinterpreted with attention to shifts in photographic language and in contemporary work. A classic theme in documentary photography in the Twentieth Century now back center-stage for humanity as a whole, setting a new challenge requiring new languages and narratives.
Entries should be submitted in digital format, including the following documentation:
-Curriculum Vitae
-Presentation and description of the project
-10 photographs (JPG, 72 dpi, long side 800px)
The call will remain open through June 30th, 2012, and can be reviewed on the IILA web page.
