This great success has made of the call for Gabriel García Márquez fellowship in cultural journalism, the activity with the highest number of applications in the 17 years FNPI history. The high level of journalists who applied for the fellowship, and the rich diversity of profiles that were evaluated, are a strong evidence of the vitality of the cultural journalism around the world. However, it also raised a great challenge for the selection committee.
The Ministry of Culture of Colombia and FNPI would like to thank all the journalists who took the time and effort to submit their applications. Additionally we would like to thank Barranquilla’s Secretary of Culture (city declared American Capital of Culture in 2013), The Cartago Foundation, The Hay Festival, the Cartagena International Music Festival, and the support of Organization Ardila Lulle (OAL) and Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Cartagena.
This is the list of the 20 journalists selected for the Gabriel García Márquez Fellowship in cultural journalism 2013, who will be divided in two modules, music and literature
