SAMPLED Festival: Unfinished and Unleashed is a weekend festival of performance ideas in progress for audiences and artists, with the intentions of entertainment, inspiration and providing a platform for risk taking performing arts to meet audiences at vital stages in their development. The programme consists of 3 elements, reflecting on themselves and both interrogating and celebrating fresh ideas and the processes of making performance.

Cambridge Junction is looking for new ideas from emerging and mid-career artists to feature in the festival, presented in an innovative, artistic response to the format of a pitch, to be presented to audiences and promoters. We’re looking for ideas which have had no formal development time, that have never been presented with an audience, that haven’t been supported in any way by another institution: we’re looking for your next idea from your notebook, the one that might not work. We want the pitches to spark the imagination of all who engage with them, whoever they might be.

SAMPLED Festival will feature up to 20 artistic ‘pitches’ of ideas competing for possible development support from Cambridge Junction selected from open call. We are offering a £2000 seed commission, two weeks residency in our J3 studio for initial R&D, plus support from the venue to get the idea off the ground. Projects proposed must have the potential to be realised with Cambridge Junction.

Pitches could take place anywhere inside and outside building, with possibilities including our lift (for a 30 second ‘elevator pitch’), a foyer table (“let’s meet for a coffee”), a small room or offsite in the local area. Pitches should be designed for individuals or small groups, presented several times to an audience who book slots.

Selected artists will receive a fee of £25 + travel expenses, with the opportunity of receiving the commission.
TO APPLY: please write up to one A4 page including: an outline of the idea as it stands for the performance, how you might present your ‘pitch’ including in what kind of space, a brief biography and any weblinks to past work, and send to Daniel Pitt, Producer: Arts on daniel.pitt@junction.co.uk  by 5pm on Sunday 10th March 2013.

Ideas will be selected by Cambridge Junction and the winner of the commission will be selected by the SAMPLED Festival panel.
