Parallel to the exhibition «SUPERTEMPORAL. International Videoart Today» at Kulturhuset Stockholm, this round-table aims to discuss and expand the notion, nature and role of moving image today. From the re-appropriation of TV today, the ghosts of images to new articulations of film and video production and distribution and the exhibition space, the aim is to explore moving image’s (non)boundaries, constant contamination and ubiquity in our contemporaneity, our imaginaries and even our subjectivities. By inviting different professionals working with the medium from Barcelona and Stockholm, the symposium will allow the entrance to the subject from different and multiple entry points, through a series of short presentations and a meeting point for debate.

María Ruido lives in Madrid and Barcelona, where she works as a teacher at University of Barcelona, and she is part of various research studies on politics of representation and its contextual relations. She is an artist, filmmaker, researcher and cultural producer, since 1998. She has been developing interdisciplinary projects about the imaginaries of labour in postfordist capitalism, as well as about the mechanisms for the construction of memory and its relation to the narrative forms of history.

Richard Julin is Deputy Director and Chief curator at Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall. He focuses on productions of new work with contemporary artists. In the last years artists collaborations include Andrea Zittel, Tino Sehgal, Pipilotti Rist, Mona Hatoum, Sofia Hultén and Tony Oursler. He is an Affiliate researcher and teacher at the Stockholm University, Department of History of Art, International Master Program in Curating Art. He is also actively involved in the preserving and distributing of experimental cinema and video art as a board member of the Filmform foundation.

Marti Manen lives in Stockholm and works as an independent curator and art critic. He has curated exhibitions at Museo de Historia Natural (Mexico DF), Sala Montcada – Fundación “La Caixa” (Barcelona), Aara (Bangkok), Sala Rekalde (Bilbao), Konsthall C (Stockholm), La Panera (Lleida) or Zero1 (Olot). During 2012, Consonni (Bilbao) will publish his book on exhibition theory «Salir de la exposición». He is currently working with an exhibition for CA2M (Madrid) to be presented June 2012 in a double format: a physical exhibition and a novel.

Miriam Bäckström lives and works in Stockholm. She works with photography, film, installations, performance and text. She is interested in a staging of situations that are perceived to be documentary but that is extremely well organized. In recent years, several of her work has focused on partnerships with major actors in the form of portraits on the actor as a professional but also the person behind the role.
