Among the first actions of the Latin American Center of Photography tells the call to the first edition of his Latin American Photography Award. Their goal is to contribute to the cultural integration and mutual understanding between different nations that make up the Latin American region, giving them to know it works of its photographers.

The Prize will have 11 categories: Environment, Customs and Popular Culture, landscapes and cityscapes, Labor, Science and Education, Daily Life, General category, open topic, Portrait, Architecture, Photojournalism, Sports and Nature and wildlife.

Open to all photographers, professional or amateur, born in any country in Latin America, regardless of their current place of residence, and those born outside Mercosur countries residing in any Latin American nation.

A Selection Committee, composed of specialists of the photographic medium and documentary, will be responsible for choosing the selected photos in each category, who will make up an exhibition to be held in December 2012 at the Centro Cultural Borges, Buenos Aires.

Among the selected photos, a jury chaired by René Burri and integrated by renowned professionals in the fields photographic, editorial and / or Latin American curatorial, grant the following rewards:

1st Prize acquisition, U.S. $ 3,000 (in photography equipment) and diploma.
2nd Prize acquisition, U.S. $ 1,500 (in photography equipment ) and diploma.
3rd Prize acquisition, U.S. $ 500 ( in photography equipment ) and diploma.

There will JURY SPECIAL MENTION for best photography in each of the 11 thematic categories, whose authors will be given diplomas.
